We made it to Ft. Lauderdale from Key West on an exciting overnight sail. We left Key West on mid day Thursday under sunny skies, light breezes and a favorable weather forecast. Kayleigh was at the helm when I went below in early evening and the weather degraded to thunderstorms and 35+ knot winds (gale force). Kayleigh was a champ, but we were in for a no sleep evening as Jungle was rocking. Did I mention we were rounding southeast Florida through a busy shipping lane? Fun times.
We arrived the Hyat Pier 66 Marina on Friday - the Hollywood of mega yachts. I saw one boat that Jungle was prettier than, turned out to be one of the Mega Yachts dinghys. We still think Jungle is the prettiest girl in the harbor, but just to be safe, no photos.
Kayleigh is off for Washington DC then home to Newport Beach - great crew member. My brother Bill has volunteered to join us for our sail to Boston and we're happy to have him. Bill has a ton of sailing experience and when Jenee asked him for his qualifications he said he looks great in a thong. We're good. We plan to make a sprint for Boston (Green Harbor), about 1200 miles over 7 days. We'll pay close attention to the weather but we're comfortable at sea.
Hopefully, I'll provide another update before we head out. Until then, all the best from S/V Jungle.
