Viva Habana!

We are back in Habana for a stroll around town

A lot of street art along the way

Good ole' Che Guevera at every shop. The short story on Che; Born in Argentina, became a physician, toured South America on a motorcycle, became a revolutionary based on all the poverty and corruption he encountered, hooked up with Fidel and the Cuban revolution, continued his revolutionary ways (against US) until captured and executed in Bolivia at the age of 39 by CIA backed Bolivian forces. All this makes him a huge hero in Cuba where he was laid to rest.

Ok, I'm hungry. Now this is a sandwich - a Cuban sandwich

Back to our stroll through old town Habana

Came across this cute little guy who was with is Mom sweeping the park. Cost me a CUC ($1) to chat with him.

Nice little park

We find a path to Havana Bay

We head out

It looks promising

Nothing going on here. Ok then.

And we're back

Checking out the market

And the cool painted buildings

We finally make it to La Bodeguita, Ernest Hemmingway's hangout.

Everyone signs their name in the bar. We didn't. We are not evrybody.

Even Ernest signs - says; My mojitos in La Bodeguita, My daiquiris in El Floridita. We know what was important to Ernest.

I
Ernest Hemmingway plaque above the bar.

We are having mojitos, based on Ernest's recommendation

And now we are dancing with the band

C'mon Monica, try to have some fun

That's better. A band favorite.

We found a nice spot for dinner

And a nice sunset

Big sunset

A toast to the evening

Music please

View from our apartment the next morning

It's another beautiful day in Havana

The oldest lawn mower in the world, I'd say

We have a great breakfast every morning

This is Tomas Tuma the owner of the apartment. A charming gentleman and an architect by trade. He's seen a lot of change over the years in Cuba.

Here is one of Tomas' drawings from an ice cream shop he designed many years ago

It's time to relax - good work dear

We're walking again - plenty of cool cars

I think I've seen this one before

I have no idea what the hell these are

Posing in front of Hotel Nacional

It seems everything in Cuba's history happened here

Close up

This is what a Cuba license plate looks like - now you know

Always cool cars

Check it out, a Russian limosine. That's it for now. We'll finish up our Cuban tour with a trip through memory lane and the Cuban missle crisis. Hasta la vista
