Sarakinko also includes these caves which at one time were used as burial catacombs.
We rented a scooter and went to this beach set in the cliffs, called Sarakinko.
And here is what we got to see.
Oh yeah, we had a few steps on our climb to the top of the copas (village).
We had dinner later on at this cafe. Greek Tavernas are wonderful! Efharisto (thanks)
While in Milos, we decided to visit my buddy Yanko's cafe. Actually it's just a shout out to Darren Yankovsky and the Yanko gang.
We were not dissapointed. The bay we are in is 2 miles across, 6 miles long and is the crater of an ancient volcano. An incredible amount of land was blasted out. One of these similar eruptions from the island of Thira (Santorini) wiped out a complete civilization thousands of years ago.
We sailed into another anchorage Elfonisos for the day, then sailed overnight to our first Greek Island of Milos. You can see the old town above the fishing village. This place looks great for exploring - we'll check it out.
Another view of the same anchorage. The countryside and islands are of volcanic origin, very striking.
